2011 Scholarship Winners
On a beautiful day in August, Graham and LuAnn Snyder were pleased to present the Dan Snyder Memorial Scholarship to three deserving 2011 recipients. Read more about each of the recipients below.

Jared Parent
Jared Parent received the award in the Elmira Sugar Kings category. Jared helped the Sugar Kings win the Sutherland Cup championship in 2010-2011. He was named the team's top defensive players at the Kings' annual awards gala, and was also awarded the Midwestern Conference's Leory Jamieson Memorial Trophy, which recognizes a player's outstanding contributions to one team. Jared is in his third year studying business at the University of Waterloo. Click here to watch Jared score a powerplay goal against the Wheatfield Jr. Blades in 2009.
Corin Metzger
Corin Metzger received the award in the "Woolwich Community Open" category. Corin participated in the inaugural U25 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships which took place at Brock University in July. Playing for the Canadian team, Corin helped the team to a fourth place finish. Corin started to play wheelchair basketball at the early age of four through a local wheelchair sports program. Corin loves the sport and works hard to refine her on-court skills.
Metzger begins her second year at Mohawk College in September where she is studying general arts.

Robyn Beckett
Robyn Beckett received the award in the "Woolwich Community Open" category. Robyn was recognized as a winner due to her extensive involvement in community action and sports. As a student at Elmira District Secondary School, Robin was a member of the swim team and an avid cheerleader. Robyn starts her studies in the environmental and earth science program at McMaster University in the fall.

About the Dan Snyder Memorial Scholarship
In October 2003, local hockey hero Dan Snyder succumbed to injuries as a result of a car crash in Atlanta, Georgia. Shortly thereafter, using funds raised by the NHLPA and other donors, the Dan Snyder Memorial Scholarship Fund was born.Click here for details about applying for the scholarship.
