Dan Snyder Memorial Cabinet Planned for the WMC
The rink that bears his name will also house a memorial cabinet dedicated to Dan SnyderAlthough the main ice pad in the Woolwich Memorial Centre bears Dan Snyder's name, the Snyder family wants to give the community a chance to learn more about Dan. The Foundation recently commissioned a craftsman to create a very special memorial cabinet that will be placed on the second level of the Dan Snyder Memorial Arena. The Snyder's expect the cabinet to be ready and installed prior to Christmas 2011.
The cabinet will provide a dedicated memorial to Dan, available to all who enter the WMC. Each new generation of young athletes will have the opportunity to learn about Dan Snyder, a great athlete who learned to play hockey in their hometown, and through hard work and determination, made it all the way to NHL.
The cabinet will house memorabilia such as photos, trophies and other mementos that the Snyder's have generously elected to show to the public. A digital photo frame will display the photos that represent Dan and which honour his memory best.
Dan played single A minor hockey in Woolwich before playing one year with the Sugar Kings. The foundation will be donating a section of the showcase to both Minor Hockey and the Sugar Kings for their use. The cabinet will also acknowledge the many individuals, teams and businesses who supported the fundraising drive to build the Woolwich Memorial Centre.
Stay tuned to this site for installation photos and details.
